Rock Creek Song Dogs

Jake Soha -Vocals, Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin
Dani Jo Soha -Vocals, Bass, Harmonica

The Rock Creek Song Dogs are partners in life, love and music. We met in art class when we were fifteen and connected during choir & guitar lessons on Thursdays. From there, our friendship blossomed into love and musical creativity. We are independent recording and performing artists who reside in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Our music seems to defy the aspect of genre. We like to think we have a little something for every heart to hear, appreciate, and/or relate to. One might say we are a little folk, a little rock, a little gritty with a hint of bluegrass. Unconcerned about fitting into a certain category of music we create freely and often.

Most of our song writing is driven by emotions and patterns of behavior we notice. We find it easier to sing about struggling than to say we are struggling with something. All in all, we are open about our shadows and invite our listeners into our lives with every album we release.

Sliceless Brevelers

The Driftless Revelers & Sliced Bread Jug Band are making their debut at the WHYS Music Fest as Sliceless Brevelers!

Jug band music is a Slice of American history, born in the early 20th century in Southern towns like Louisville and Memphis, as mainly African‐American musicians gathered and shared and commingled diverse musical influences, such as Delta blues, ragtime and jazz, Appalachian songs, and vaudeville and “medicine shows”.

The Sliced Bread Jug Band lovingly tries to carry on the jug band tradition. Our music is unpredictable and often wildly, hilariously cantankerous, armed with guitar, ukulele, seemingly improbable homemade percussion, and, of course, jugs. The Slices perform traditional, old style jug band music, a little “jug‐o‐lated” rock and roll, and our own highly original material arranged for the modern jug band orchestra.

The Driftless Revelers formed in the second spring of the first global pandemic of the 21st century, with one ear turned toward the shellac platters and Victrola virtuosos of the early to mid 20th century, and the other ear glued to the soundscapes of the 1960's & 1970's American freak-folk scene. Featuring the original songwriting of Ben Nelson, Matthew R. Sayles, and Jerod Kaszynski, The Driftless Revelers will pleasure a crowd with plectral banjo tones, the mournful wailing of resophonic steel guitars, and the up-right bass bellows of an era that can't quite be defined, but revels in the timeless ephemera of weird old-time American music

The Ditchlilies

Wisconsin's American and International Roots duo, The DitchLilies have been in musical cahoots since 1998. Kari Larson and Lisa Schultz are stringed multi-instrumentalists/vocalists with a soft spot and keen enthusiasm for early swing, old-time mountain music, world roots and juke joint songs from the golden era. Together, they turn back in time to dust off the rare and forgotten tunes or to hone the familiar tried and true melodies with the aim of carrying them forward to share with audiences of today. Variously tender and bold, imaginative and well-crafted, The DitchLilies bring a refreshing sound to the roots music revival. Kari Larson: mandolin, reso-phonic guitars, tenor guitar, reso-phonic ukulele, and vocals. Lisa Schultz: guitar, clawhammer banjo, mandolin and vocals.

The Ditchlilies are dedicated to learning, playing and dancing to Old-Time Country Music. Kari Larson, Lisa Schultz, Meghan Dudle and Liz Draper all bring to this high energy band the grit and talent it takes to fairly represent folk music from country music's Golden Age. From hillbilly swing to jug band, honky-tonk to Appalachian mountain music, their love for it all can send audiences on a music ride from Bakersfield to Galax.
